WooCommerce has partnered with the sales tax experts at Avalara to provide WooCommerce users with an integrated sales tax tool that is easy-to-use and easy-to-implement. Simply turn on AvaTax and the accurate sales tax calculation is applied to every purchase – automatically.

End of the month? End of the quarter? Annual tax filing? Use Avalara Returns with Avalara AvaTax for a robust solution that handles tax compliance from beginning to end.

How to Get Started

  1. Sign up for AvaTax if you don’t already have an account, then log in and grab your Account Number / License Key
  2. Download this free extension 🙂
  3. Install the extension into your WooCommerce store
  4. Save this information on the settings page and set up your tax codes/settings
  5. That’s it! Sit back and enjoy automated tax rate management!
Watch it in action!

With WooCommerce AvaTax, you can stop guessing at your tax rates and immediately streamline tax rate calculation and management. Rather than manually adding a bunch of tax and shipping rates to your store, you can use Avalara’s tax codes to automatically calculate the appropriate tax for each order based on your store address and the customer address. All tax information will be recorded properly in your Avalara account to make return filings as (relatively) painless as possible. 😉

Take Avalara’s free economic nexus assessment

Staying compliant in multiple states is hard, especially since sales tax rates and rules change frequently, and lots of businesses are changing how they go to market. Most states now require you to register, collect, and remit sales tax if your sales into that state exceed certain economic nexus thresholds. Take this free Sales Tax Risk Assessment to help determine where your sales have created a need to register to collect and remit sales tax.
